ABB has unveiled its first CO2-neutral and energy self-sufficient factory in the world

ABB, the multinational tech firm, unveiled its CO2-neutral and energy self-sufficient factory in Luedenscheid, Germany. The photovoltaic system with 275 kWh battery storage backup fully power up the factory & also any additional energy will be fed back into the grid. Furthermore, the factory has EV charging points for staff & visitors.
According to ABB, it can produce 1100 MWh of power each year, enough to meet the annual needs of 340 homes. Hence, the facility at the site will help to save around 630 tonnes of CO2 each year.
This factory has around 800 staff & manufactures electrical equipment such as power sockets and switchers.
