Annual Added Solar Capacity in Norway Has Gone up close to 3 times in 2019 Compared to 2017

Annual solar power addition increased to 51.4 MW in Norway in 2019 compared to 18.4 MW in 2017. Although this amount is small compared to other European nation’s additions in 2019, the annual installation is approximately three times more than in 2017.

According to the Norwegian solar industry association, Solenergiklyngen, the Nordic country has reported a new annual record and eightfold growth since the end of 2015.

Of the total installed in 2019, close to 60% came from the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment and 35% was installed by private households. It is worth mentioning that only the share of private households in 2019 equals the annual capacity addition in 2017. Furthermore, off-grid capacity addition was 2 MW while BIPV numbers added up to 1.1 MW in 2019.
