It’s the climate action week & Google managed to go public with a Google scale breaking news. It was the biggest corporate purchase of renewable energy in history, 1600 MW power in 18 new energy deals spread over U.S., Chile, & Europe. Google’s intention was not only purchase of Green Energy but to add to current Green capacity, meaning new projects. Lets have a look at the breakdown of new Solar & Wind projects in this deal.
According to Google blog, in the U.S., they are purchasing energy from 720 MW of solar farms in North Carolina (155 MW), South Carolina (75 MW), and Texas (490 MW). In South America, they are adding 125 MW of renewable energy capacity to the grid that supplies our data center in Chile. Finally, almost half (793 MW) of the new renewable energy capacity purchased will be located in Europe, specifically Finland (255 MW), Sweden (286 MW), Belgium (92 MW), and Denmark (160 MW).Google also underlines the speciality about their Chile deal, which is a hybrid technology deal that combines solar and wind.
