In spite of all their advantages, solar and wind energies have a major disadvantage, that is, being variable. In other words, the power output of solar/wind farms severely dependent on the weather conditions that increase inequality between the amount of needed energy and the amount of produced energy.
On one hand, as the energy consumption grows as the population expands over the world. On the other hand, the world has been decided to decarbonize its energy supply by phasing out coal, natural gas, and petroleum and increasing renewable electricity for the grid. Then, battery storage is an essential component of this circle for fulfilling the widespread demand for reliable electricity.
The most dominant type of batteries is Li-ion or Lithium-ion battery. Some of you may be familiar with that is commonly used in electronic devices and EVs.
If incentives increase more and more for the development of more large-scale electricity storage, in the near future, we see falling costs for lithium-ion batteries and then policymakers will surge to invest in fully green electricity.
