The solar power generation in Europe reached the highest level despite the COVID-19 pandemic. In the second quarter (Q2) of 2020, Europe’s solar power generation reached around 47.6TWh throughout the three months ended by the 30th of June.
This shows a 22% increase in comparison with the second quarter of 2019 and 18.7% greater than the 40.1TWh in 2018. It has hit an all-time high-level generation from solar power.
The high power generation has happened due to the ideal weather conditions and reduction in the CO2 emissions associated with lockdown measures in the nations of this continent. Expansion of renewable energies including Solar Power is one of the priorities of the EU to decrease the use of fossil fuels and their CO2 emissions to reach their Paris conventions commitments.
