Green Energy or Clean Energy, Which one Is On The Track Of Achieving Climate Goals?

The energy supply is composed of a wide variety of energy resources such as solar energy, wind energy, nuclear energy or the most common source, fossil fuels.

So how can we identify which one is greener or cleaner from the others? Is there any criterion for distinguishing clean or green energy resources? The answer is “Yes”.

There are 2 criteria for specifying unclean resources from clean and green resources. Clean energies do NOT emit CO2 (as a greenhouse gas) during their process of producing Electricity. Therefore, all sustainable energies are clean and fossil fuels are not.

Not all sustainable clean energies are necessarily green. Green energies do NOT leave any harmful residue in the environment. Thus, nuclear energy is sustainable clean energy but it is not green energy because its long-term radioactive waste has a negative impact on the environment.

From the standpoints of part of people, the main target of exploiting clean & green energies is reducing CO2 emissions, which causes climate change. Instead we should focus on solutions which will NOT harm our planet in other ways, such as with nuclear waste.
