Vietnamese electricity utility, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), has inaugurated grid connection for the Da Mi Floating Solar Power Plant in La Ngau commune in Tanh Linh district.
According to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which is considering providing financial backing to the project, the installation will occupy a total surface of 51.55 ha, which includes 5.8 ha of land for the deployment of the transmission lines for the grid-connection of the facility. The construction of the lines will involve three communes, including La Ngau Commune (Tanh Linh District), La Da Commune and Da Mi Commune (Ham Thuan Bac District).
Floating solar panels have been installed on the artificial reservoir of the 175 MW Da Mi Hydropower plant. It predicted deploying 143,940 solar panels on a 50-hectare surface area of the total reservoir. Basically, it is grid-connected, EVN said it has been energized 48 days before the decided timing and will supply clean power to Binh Thuan and other Southern provinces.
One problem EVN is facing relates to expected overloading of grids in Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan and Dak Lak provinces where most new solar power facilities are coming up.
