Spanish utility company Iberdrola has started construction of a 500 MW solar farm in Spain. The company says it’s the largest PV project under construction in Europe. It will generate enough power for 250,000 people by 2020.
According to Iberdrola, These new projects form part of the group’s expansion of clean energy in Spain, which will lead to the installation of 10,000 new MW and the creation of 20,000 jobs by 2030.
The group’s Chairman Ignacio Galán highlighted that the Nuñez de Balboa plant “is the spearhead that will consolidate the leadership position of Extremadura, Spain and the European Union in the transition to a more sustainable energy system”.
