Today’s post is about another amazing BIPV project. When we talk about rooftop installations, we usually refer to residential application. However, today’s post is about one of the world’s largest industrial-scale rooftop installations.
According to PV-Tech news, The largest solar panel rooftop installation in the Baltic States recently started operations at top of the RETAL factory in Lentvaris,- around 10 kilometers from the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius. The installation has a total generation capacity of 1.4MW.
The installation is worth US$1.1 million and was installed by I+D Energias Lithuania, a Lithuanian/Spanish partner of Sun Investment Group (SIG). The new installation will provide renewable energy for RETAL, a manufacturer of sustainable PET and rPET packaging in the Baltic States.
Lithuania is one of the few European Union member states to have already met its 2020 renewable energy targets, which requires that each EU member must source 20% of all its energy from renewable sources. ——————–***——————–
