New Near-Shore Floating Solar Power Plant for Harsh Weathers

Companies Saipem and Equinor have signed an agreement to build a nearshore floating solar power plant.

“The technology is a modular concept designed for easy fabrication, which is based on an idea developed by Moss Maritime,” part of Saipem’s XSIGHT division, Saipem said.

This technology is designed specifically for harsher weather conditions.

Both companies want to share their experience and knowledge together so that they could become a leading developer in coastal floating solar technology.

“The agreement with Equinor goes in the direction taken by Saipem and Moss Maritime towards the development of new technologies related to clean energy,” Moss Maritime chief executive Ida Husem said.
