The Warner Bros. Theme Park, located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, will be host to one of the largest rooftop solar installations in the Persian Gulf region. Spread over an area of 30,000 sq. meters, the park’s roof area will be covered by 16,000 solar panels. These panels will generate nearly 40% of the parks’ electricity demand.
On its completion, this will be the largest solar-powered theme park in the Persian Gulf region. The project is estimated to be commissioned by the fourth quarter of 2021. UAE’s officials claim that this project under construction is in line with Abu Dhabi’s 2030 energy efficiency strategy to reduce overall electricity consumption by 22%.
It is interesting to note that Masdar, the renewable energy company, is responsible for the design, procurement, and construction, as well as the operation and maintenance of this 7MW rooftop solar installation.
