PHASA-35 is a solar-powered unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that is being developed by BAE Systems in collaboration with Prismatic. It has a wing-span of 35 meters and weighs 150 kilograms, including a 15-kilogram payload. The aircraft is powered by the sun during the day while a battery system keeps it airborne at night.
BAE Systems claims that PHASA-35 has the potential for flying at 65,000 feet for as long as a year. The solar arrays which are placed on the body and wings sections of the vehicle are Gallium arsenide (GaAs) type.
