They are looking for an NT personality type, a strategist who also has a business development mindset.
If you are the perfect fit for this brilliant opportunity to quickly grow into an executive team position within the firm, you will have an MBA from Oxford, Harvard or a similar esteemed institution. You will be understand solar PV technologies and able to grasp a firm understanding of how the business operates with a key focus on aspects pertaining to; modular energy production, distribution, metering and grid management system and in this case, one that combines the benefits of time-based energy service subscription services (seen in solar home systems) with the capital efficiency of a micro-grid architecture.
You will be someone who lives for adventure, heading off to rural Africa and meeting with developers who will roll out your franchise strategy to entrepreneurs who in turn use their mobile application to make time-based subscription services sales to the local community, be it schools, clinics, small households or businesses. Your primary goal within the firm will be to prepare the company for its hard-set expansion goals to power up access to energy to over 130 residents per country in East Africa before 2023. You will find yourself creating value through your ability to develop strategies and documentation which support the franchise model and can be used throughout various countries with minor tweaks as you identify new markets where your model will quickly be adopted and generate value back to the firm and it’s funders. As a senior within the firm you will be developing relationships with key players, which will include; consultants, counsel, regulators, and other businesses and you will also find yourself managing several subcontractors across relevant technical disciplines which include; hardware, electronics and software engineers. Working closely with the Group Chief Executive we expect you to be an intellect, analyst as well as driven by targets, you will be able to tell us how you have exceeded your targets and developed new innovative solutions to franchise smart strategies and the management and development of processes thereof.

MBA from Oxford or Harvard or similar esteemed institute
Experience developing robust franchise strategies, ideally within the African market
Experience working internationally in start-up environments
Passion for emerging technologies
Vetting potential franchise partners across Africa
Must have developed budgets and control mechanisms thereof (includes identify cost-saving and revenue-enhancing opportunities for the business as a whole)
Experience optimizing systems and processes related to franchise models and businesses operational matters (proven track record)
Must have experience developing and engaging with various stakeholders from government level right through to technical developers and community members
Handling relevant legal documents with specific reference to technical and compliance specifications by subcontractors/developers
Experience writing high-level reports with a key focus on funders progress reports and relating these to milestones and the work-plan
Experience developing training material and processes for internal and external use
Experience in management consulting, project management, renewable energy development/cleantech, or business development sphere is advantageous
Willing to travel excessively between Zambia and South Africa with the broader Africa down the line
