Scaled-up Battery Storage LCOE Has Halved from 2017 through 2019

Large-scale battery storage LCOE, Post No. 892, has fallen to $150/MWh which is halved compared to two years ago. The combination of lithium-ion battery storage with solar or wind power becomes, therefore, more competitive with fossil fuel power generation. It is noted that solar or wind power plus battery storage pack becomes mainstream in large-scale projects as well as in small-scale such as rooftop solar installation. It is due to rectifying somewhat the intermittent nature of renewables, especially solar and wind.

Among all countries, China has achieved the lowest benchmark for the scaled-up battery storage LCOE, $115 per MWh. It is worth mentioning that most of the battery storage supplies from China, today.
