The 2019 added capacity for all types of power generation technologies reached 265 GW, where the share of solar power was much bigger than other technologies. Solar power technology is constituent of 45% of new capacity installed in 2019.
According to a recently published report by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), Power Transition Trends 2020, solar photovoltaic (Solar PV) topped all other technologies in new-build terms and was the most popular technology deployed in a third of nations.
The cumulative solar installation reached 43.7 GW spot in 2010 while 2019’s added capacity was more than two and half times that. That was 118 GW capacity. From 2010 to 2015, the solar installation was mostly concentrated in wealthier countries, however, it has recently shifted.
It is important to note that BNEF, Bloomberg’s primary research service, covers clean energy, advanced transport, digital industry, innovative materials, and commodities.
