Renewable energies including solar and wind in addition to storage are cheaper than coal and coal plus storage in Australia Energy Market. An updated study on current and future generation costs by the CSIRO and the Australian Energy Market Operator confirms this claim.
According to Reneweconomy, this updated study shows that wind, solar, plus storage remain the cheapest technologies, now and into the future, and much cheaper than the technologies promoted by the Australian government – gas, carbon capture, and nuclear. The study also indicated that after gas open cycle technology, rooftop PV and large-scale PV are the cheapest options for power generation in Australia.
