Taiwan Announces 20GW Solar Goal Aimed For 2025

Taiwan Announces 20GW Solar Goal Aimed For 2025.

Taiwan’s government kickstarts a new plan to dramatically increase the use of solar energy. This is a wonderful platform for global buyers to participate & invest in Taiwan’s industries. The plan assigns a central role to solar energy so that it is set out to supply two-thirds of the renewable share (or 20 GW) in 2025.

Tsai Ing-wen, Taiwan’s first female president, after her election in May 2016 announced her plan to attract one trillion investment in order to reach the goal. The funding will make a shift in energy consumption that could create 30,000 jobs. She also predicted that Taiwan would become the fastest growing of the so-called Asian Tigers economic rivals in Southeast Asia including Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In addition, these countries are global electronic and manufacturing hotspots.
