
The 2019 year was the Booming Time of solar power in Ukraine. Why?
Ukraine added 3.5 GW solar capacity during 2019. As we mentioned in our previous post No.928, the level of entering the top ten PV market list was 3.1 GW annual added capacity in 2019. Therefore, the country proudly was entering the top ten PV markets in the world. It has happened for the first time in the history of the country.
Ukraine’s cumulative solar capacity reached 1.8 GW at the end of 2018 while in 2019 the country added close to twice its cumulative capacity from the beginning of its first installation through 2018…WoW.
With this big achievement, Ukraine jumped up to the top ten list of countries with annual added capacity and ranked as number 9.
According to IEA, the European Union installed close to 16 GW and the rest of Europe added roughly 5 GW. The largest European market in 2019 was Spain (4,4 GW), followed by Germany (3,9 GW), Ukraine (3,5 GW), the Netherlands (2,4 GW), and France (0,9 GW). Then, it also got a high rank among European countries in 2019. It is important to note that Ukraine’s annual added capacity accounted for close to 22% of the European Union’s installed capacity.
