The Largest Floating Solar Power Plant In The Netherlands Commissioned

BayWa r.e , BayWa’s renewable energy, is a subsidiary company of BayWa undertook to install and commission the Netherland’s largest floating solar power plant (FSPP). According to RenewableEnergyMagazine, the Sekdoorn project in the Netherlands, near the city of Zwolle, has a total capacity of 14.5 MWp, enough to power almost 4,000 households.

FSPP provides a wide range of options for exploiting bodies of water such as reservoirs, fish farming waters or lakes in different ways. Features of such a system are as the following:

*preventing water from vaporization

*positive effect on solar PV performance

*providing fast supply of electricity to areas with limited infrastructure

* is independent of soil quality

*providing secure power supply in the event of earthquakes or floods.
