The Lowest Bid For Solar Power, 0.013 $/kWh, in Portugal’s Second Solar Auction

In Portugal’s Second Solar Auction which was held in August the lowest bid for solar power proposed. $0.013 (€0.0112) is the historically lowest bid in solar power system. It indicates that Portugal is one of the most competitive countries in terms of solar power.

It is even lower than the first solar auction of Portugal in the summer of 2019. In that auction, Akuo Energy, the winner of the auction, offered €0.01476 ($0.01646) per kWh bid for 1.15 GW capacity. This lowest bid is for 700 MW capacity which both offered companies proposed to add a battery storage system for these solar projects.
