How Do We Rank the Best Solar panels in Our List?
SolarEdition’s Top 10 Solar panels list has been arranged based on three features as the following
1- Solar panel Efficiency
The efficiency of the solar panel is the first criterion in sorting our list. But what is efficiency in the solar panel? The solar panel’s efficiency is the ability of the panel to convert sunlight into electricity. In simple words, this means the higher the efficiency, the more electricity is generated for you. Our Top 10 solar panels list has been published since 2019 and it was originally named the most-efficient solar panels.
2- Power Density
Another used criterion for distinguishing and categorizing solar panels is power density. The power density is the total power generated by a PV module divided by the area of that module. The power density unit is watts per square meter (W/m2 ). It is one of the things that all PV module sellers, buyers, and installers should consider.
3- Solar panel’s Power Output
The last parameter in sorting our list is the power output of the PV module. But what is the power output of a solar panel? It is the total amount of electricity you can get from a single panel.
Top 10 Solar Panels List Changes, since February 2022
The March 2022 Top 10 Solar panels list was released with only one change compared to the last Top 10 solar panel which was published in February 2022 by Solar Edition. This change, introduced to the PV module market, is related to Trina Solar’s Vertex solar panels series. A variant of the Vertex series with 21.1% ranked 23th and higher than their close rivals such as JA Solar, LONGi Solar, and SPIC Solar.
In a hot competition for middle ranks of March 2022 Top 10 Solar panels list 22th and 23th ranks were gained by Trina Solar.

Trina Solar Vertex S: Solar panel with smaller, lighter, more efficient Features
Trina Solar is the leading PV module manufacturer and its Vertex series has been in production since 2020 with front-side power up to 515.8 W. This was one of the first PV modules ever made with the M12 (210 mm side length), establishing a new brand and industry-standard wafer size. The company’s Vertex series incorporates several state-of-the-art technologies such as non-destructive cutting, high-density interconnection, and MBB, which are ahead of similar products in terms of power, efficiency and reliability. In other words, it is the latest generation of the most powerful solar module. Moreover, It became a member of “500+ PV Module Producer Club”.
Trina’s Vertex S model from the Vertex series has been released with 21.1% efficiency and 405 W in its output power. This PV module exploits multi-busbar (MBB) technology for better light trapping, lower series resistance, improved current collection and enhanced reliability. It stands at the 23th rank in the March 2022 Top 10 Solar panels list and one level lower than another PV module from Vertex series. This solar panel is a smaller and lighter model than its Vertex counterpart utilized by solar farms. It is important to note that the Vertex S weight is 21kg.
