Vietnam’s New Future Outlook in Solar Energy for the Next Decade, More Solar, but also More Coal

Vietnam is set to see a surge in electricity consumption due to the expansion of the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Although it is estimated the government will fill the gap in the market by using coal to meet the power demand. This will also give renewable energy a chance to help with this, specially with current low prices for Solar Power.

Vietnam has a relatively untapped market when it comes to solar power and it is estimated that because of the surge in electricity consumption over the next decade, Vietnam’s solar energy sector sees a huge opportunity.

The government has planned to install 4 GW of solar capacity by 2025, and another 12 GW by the year 2030. As a result of this, Vietnam’s solar market is seeing an increase in interest in solar projects.
