Close to two-thirds of the total electricity generation in Europe could be supplied from solar power if 100% Renewable Energy is achieved. SolarPower Europe and Finland’s Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (LUT) have launched a report called “100% Renewable Europe How To Make Europe’s Energy System Climate-Neutral Before 2050”.
According to SolarPower Europe, a 100% renewable energy system in Europe will lead to the sharpest decline in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, down to zero by 2040. They have also mentioned that this scenario enables the EU to become climate neutral before 2050 in the most cost-effective manner.
