Although we put a lot of effort into limiting the list to “commercialized” 60-cell solar panels, in order to compare, we added SunPower’s 66-cell module to our list. Because this type of module is usually categorized with 60-cell modules.
All of the most efficient solar panels have made from n-type monocrystalline cells. Moreover, IBC technology is the most favorite tech for solar PV manufacturers. Interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells eliminate shading losses altogether by putting both contacts on the front and the rear side of cells.
Another benefit is that cells with both contacts are easier to interconnect and can be placed closer together in the solar panel since there is no need for a space between the cells.
