For the first time in history, the global market demand for Solar PV cells would be over 100 gigawatts this year. Based on numbers from Global Solar Demand Monitor*, 104 gigawatts of PV are estimated to be installed during the year of 2018. This would reflect a 6% annual growth for this year and a mature 5% growth toward 2022. The report predicts China to stay as the world’s biggest PV market, while the US newly imposed 30% tariffs would affect the results in 2019.
